What to Consider Before Enrolling in Off Leash Training

Prior to enrolling in our Off-Leash Training program, you and your dog must have first completed the Basic Obedience Training and Advanced Obedience Training programs. In the beginning of your enrollment in the Off-Leash Training program, or the first month of training, 5 days a week is ideal for getting your furry friend accustomed to the idea of being off-leash. In addition to this, it is recommended that the owner(s) participate in 20 minutes daily of off-leash activity with their dog absent of our trainer’s presence.

    What We’ll Teach Your Dog

In our Off-Leash Training program it is imperative that the owner works closely with their furry friend. In doing so, it creates a bond that introduces the dog to the concept of respecting his or her owner(s) while simultaneously listening to their commands. With intense and repetitive training, you’re providing consistent interaction to build a trusting relationship.

The Purpose of Off Leash Training for Your Dog

Your dog needs the physical exercise that off leash training would allow for. Recall that a tired dog is a good dog. Off leash training could prevent your dog from becoming injured by cars or other animals, as well as numerous other dangerous situations. More importantly, your dog will understand its place in the pack so he or she knows what to expect out of you and you know what to expect out of your dog.

Off-leash training is the most important gift you could give your dog because it provides for consistency and a stable environment. If your dog is not psychologically happy, they will not be stable and thus they will be disobedient.

Additional Benefits of Off Leash Training for Your Dog

Free from restraints and guided through positive reinforcement, off-leash training is one of the best ways to spend quality time with your dog because they are learning and growing directly through you. To prevent your dog from developing health problems such as arthritis or obesity, physical activity is essential to maintaining good health. Playing catch, hiking, swimming or even letting your dog socialize with other dogs off-leash are a few of the ways your dog can exert all of that pent up energy. By letting them explore, they become increasingly aware of their surroundings. Learning through this technique can nurture an independent, alert and responsible canine. For the end result, you will have constructed a solid and loyal bond between you and your furry best friend.
