Wolfen1 was designed by expert dog trainer, Sharron Lang. Lang has been passionate about dogs her whole life and created the program to help bridge the gap of communication between dogs and their owners. She guides all of our instructors with the utmost care. That way, no matter what your problem is, we’ll have it fixed in no time.

Each of the programs we offer are completely adaptable and versatile. We’ve been in the business long enough to know that every dog and every person is completely different. What works for one dog or one owner, very well may not work for another.

  • Aggression

  • Guarding
  • Separation Anxiety

In theory, every dog has the potential to be a certified therapy dog. But in practice, temperament and personality will play a very large role. For instance, dogs that have behavior problems or are unable to sit still are unlikely to be certified.

In order to become certified, a dog must be friendly, gentle, and sociable. It also must be comfortable in new environments and meeting new people. Call us to today to see if your dog could provide much-needed companionship for those at nursing homes, hospitals, or schools.

In order to become a therapy dog, your dog must:

  • Complete basic and advanced obedience training
  • Enjoy meeting new people
  • Follow basic obedience commands like sit, come or leave it
  • Remain calm and still during visits

But please note that therapy dogs are not service dogs. Service dogs stay with one owner and assist them individually. Therapy dogs, however, are in constant contact with new people. As a result, therapy dogs must have a good level of social skills, health, and comfort with new places.

off leash training

Off Leash Dog Training

Adventurous? Maybe you love the great outdoors. Bring your dog with you! If you like to hike, fish, or run, then off leash training may be extremely beneficial to you. And luckily, we offer many of these training sessions in our Watertown location.

In order to successfully complete the course, you and your dog must already be familiar with coordinating high-degree orders. Consequently, off-leash training should only be considered once your dog has mastered more basic and advanced training.

Come down to our training sessions in Watertown to develop peace of mind, a sense of confidence, and a strengthened relationship with your animal. When your dog learns these commands, you’ll have more freedom to move and go as you please without worrying about your pet. You’ll be able to have control over your them in even dangerous or distracting situations. It may be hard work, but when your dog learns to respond to off-leash training, the benefits are massive.

In-Kennel-Board-and-Training

Everybody wants a perfectly behaved dog, but not every trainer wants to deal with dogs with behavior issues. You also may not have time for a weekly class. School, family, and other life commitments can occasionally get in the way. At Wolfen1, however, you needn’t worry about either situation!

One of our most popular programs is a six week training program at the Mine Hill Kennel in New Milford. If you decide to partake in this program, you can relax while we extensively train them.  It’s perfect if you need to go away for a long vacation or visit some relatives. Because here, your dog will also be personally attended to, fed, and properly socialized.

Programs we follow:

  • Attention Getters
  • Sit Methods
  • Down Methods
  • Heel & Come
  • Climb
  • Place

During these training sessions, dogs will be put through intensive behavior modification and obedience training classes. This way, they’ll learn to look to their owner for guidance and accept commands. The owner will join at around week five and the dog will adjust from trainer to owner. During this time, owners will also learn the program and make adjustments to their own techniques.
