Dog Training Programs We Offer In Wallingford, CT
We understand that the most important part of raising a dog is training them early on rather than later. In order to avoid common mistakes of new puppy owners, do not wait long to begin introducing basic commands to your animals. This allows for you to witness if your dog has a natural, innate quality to follow a leader or not.
Puppy training skillsets we follow:
- Obedience training
- Name recognition
- Introduction to leashes, collars and road safety
Within Wallingford, in order to help you start off on the right food with your new companion, our puppy training services are available.
Basic Dog Obedience Training
A positive reward method is what this program is based upon. This allows you to give your dog basic, introductory training skills. By doing such, it will help to stimulate your dog both mentally and physically. Advanced learning will come more easy to your dog after providing this training for your dog.
- Sit down
Mature and developed dogs are who this training is intended for. Yet, do not allow this fact to discourage you if you have a puppy. For all of our Wallingford residents we still offer puppy training services as well. Your puppy’s needs will be what we cater this specific service more towards.
Advanced Dog Obedience Training
People, cars and animals can all be different forms of distractions for your dog. In order to help them acquire the skill set to ignore such, our advanced obedience training is here to help make sure that your dog will focus solely on their owner instead. This training, thus, allows for your dog to gain more respect for their owner and will develop beyond the basic training level.
- Back Up
Through this training program, your Wallingford dog’s basic level of dog obedience training will be expanded upon into advanced territory. They will be able to learn more commands, meanwhile learning to ignore distractions like people, cars and animals. And, in the end, they will focus only on their owner.
Through neglect or resistance to training, bad behavior within your dog can be easily learned. For all of our Wallingford residents, proper training programs can help you reverse this particular mindset.
Factors like: your dog not having the proper exercise, lack of socialization, fear or if they simply just do not have the correct discipline can all be the true cause of your dog’s bad behavior training.Behavioral signs that can be helped:
Some destructive behavioral issues that can be changed:
- Seperation Anxiety
By seeking our expert training offered to Wallingford residents, like yourself, you’re already on the right path to taking control of the situation once again. Your dog will be able to learn which actions are acceptable and which are not through our one-on-one training sessions with our trainer at Wolfen1.
If you are at a: nursing home, hospital, school or retirement home; then therapy dogs are able to provide much-needed companionship for you if wanted. The only requirements for a certified therapy dog are their temperament and personality; breed, age or size does not come into play at all.
Dogs that have a behavior problem or possess the inability to sit still and remain calm are less likely to become therapy dogs. Therapy dogs have to be: friendly, gentle, comfortable around new people and always remain calm in a multitude of environments.
The steps required if you are interested in your dog becoming a therapy dog is that they have to:
- Complete basic and advanced obedience training
- Enjoy meeting new people
- Follow basic obedience commands like sit, come or leave it
- Remain calm and still during visits
Therapy dogs and service dogs are not the same; this is a common misconception. Therapy dogs do not always stay with one individual owner always or assist them directly. Therefore, therapy dogs need to have proper social skills, good health and be comfortable with being touched as constant contact with new people will occur.
Off Leash Dog Training
For dogs who find themselves in more adventurous situations (such as hiking, running or those who spent time on large properties), off leash training can be very beneficial to these dog owners.
Off leash training should only be considered once basic and advanced obedience training programs have been successfully completed. Your dog must be familiar with responding to commands at a high degree so that they can be properly taught just how to walk off leash.
We understand that some situations can become very distracting within Wallingford, so this allows you to be in more control of your companion during times like these, due to the engagement of your dog in off leash training sessions. If your dog remains calm and obedient, then it will bring a more calm atmosphere to you for any unforeseen situations where you may be separated from your dog.
In Kennel, Board and Train Program for Dogs Training your new puppy or dog can be difficult for dog owners who may not have a lot of free time. It is also proven that some dog trainers will stray away from behavior problems. That is not the case at Wolfen1.
For our minimum 6 weeks training program (held within New Milford at the Mile Hill Kennel) your dog will undergo extensive dog training. There is no need to worry either, as your dog is in very good hands of the owners of Mine Hill Kennel (whether they are need of assistance with basic or advanced obedience training).
Programs we follow:
- Attention Getters
- Sit Methods
- Down Methods
- Heel & Come
Dogs who are put through behavior modification training will undergo obedience training as well. This is where we will be able to reinforce good behavior and look to their owner for guidance. Around week 5 owners will then be integrated into the training program in order to make a more smooth adjustment from trainer to owner. By doing so, this will help establish yourself as the leader as you learn the program and are able to make key adjustments to adapt to our training style.
