Have a Question? Contact Us
Deciding where to train your puppy or older dog can be a hard decision. But thankfully with Wolfen1, it doesn’t have to be. Wolfen1 was designed by expert dog trainer, Sharron Lang. Lang was passionate about dogs her whole life and created the program to help bridge the gap of communication between dogs and their owners. She guides all of our instructors with the utmost care. That way, no matter what your problem is, we’ll have it fixed in no time.
We’ve been in the business long enough to know that every dog and every person is completely different. What works for one dog or one owner, very well may not work for another. That’s why each of the programs we offer completely adaptable and versatile.
“Thank you Sharron Lang of Wolfen1 Dog Training for getting us started! Our dogs have gained so much confidence in new situations!”
Dog Training Programs We Offer In Kent
There’s almost nothing more exciting than a new puppy. A fluffy ball of energy will add joy to anybody’s life. Enjoy the most energetic years of your dog’s life but always remember to start training early. If you wait too long, then your puppy may learn improper behavior. You want them to start learning from you as soon as possible!
Puppy training skillsets we follow:
- Obedience training
- Name recognition
- Introduction to leashes, collars and road safety
Our puppy training services in Kent will help you start off on the right foot with your new companion.
Basic Dog Obedience Training
This program will aim to teach your dog basic commands. Once we do that, we can begin to prepare them to learn more advanced ones. We’ll also stimulate your pet both physically and mentally. We’ll tire them out and make sure that they’ll sleep like a log that night!
- Sit down
This program in particular is designed for mature dogs. But if your dog is younger, then don’t let that deter you! We offer helpful classes for our Kent clients that need assistance with training.
Advanced Dog Obedience Training
Never fight for your dog’s attention again with this class! Here, we’ll teach your dog to ignore distractions and focus on its owner. It also will expand on a basic training level and give your dog more respect for you.
- Back Up
Our business is entirely centered on helping dogs reconnect with their owners. So even if your dog already has some behavior issues, we can still help you. When you are done, we will make sure you and your dog are best friends again.
There could be many reasons why your dog is acting out. Common causes of bad behavior include lack of exercise, socialization, or correct discipline.
Some behavioral signs that can be changed:
- Seperation Anxiety
When you call a trainer at Kent’s Wolfen1 to help your dog, you’ll be take control of the situation and already be on track to fixing it. We’ll work with you every step of the way so that your dog learns what behaviors are okay and which are not.
In theory, every dog has the potential to be a certified therapy dog. Temperament and personality, however, play a very large role. Dogs that have behavior problems or are unable to sit still are unlikely to be certified.
A therapy dog must be friendly, gentle, and sociable. It also must be comfortable in new environments and meeting new people. Call us to today to see if your dog could provide much-needed companionship for those at nursing homes, hospitals, or schools.
To become a therapy dog, your dog must:
- Complete basic and advanced obedience training
- Enjoy meeting new people
- Follow basic obedience commands like sit, come or leave it
- Remain calm and still during visits
Just remember that therapy dogs are not service dogs. Service dogs stay with one owner and assist them individually. Therapy dogs, however, are in constant contact with new people. That means that they must have a good level of social skills, health, and comfort with new places.
Off Leash Dog Training
We also offer off-leash training for all our adventurous dog owners out there. If you like to hike, fish, or run, then off leash training may be extremely beneficial to you. And luckily, we offer many of these training sessions in our Kent location.
Please note: Off leash training should only be considered once your dog has mastered more basic and advanced training. In order to successfully complete the course, you and your dog must already be familiar with coordinating high-degree orders.
It may be hard works, but when your dog learns to respond to off-leash training, the benefits are massive. You are at much more freedom to do what you need. You’ll be able to have control over your pet in even dangerous or distracting situations. Come down to our training sessions in Kent to develop peace of mind, a sense of confidence, and a strengthened relationship with your animal.
Everybody wants a perfectly behaved dog, but not everybody has the time for a weekly class. School, family, and other life commitments can occasionally get in the way. Additionally, you may have some trainers who stray away from dogs with behavior issues. At Wolfen1, however, you needn’t worry about either situation!
One of our most popular programs is a six week training program at the Mine Hill Kennel in New Milford. When your dog is here, you can relax while we extensively train them. Your dog will also be personally attended to, fed, and properly socialized.
Programs we follow:
- Attention Getters
- Sit Methods
- Down Methods
- Heel & Come
Under our guidance, dogs will be put through intensive behavior modification as well as obedience training. They’ll learn to look to their owner for guidance and accept commands. The owner will join at around week five and the dog will adjust from trainer to owner. Owners will also learn the program and make their own adjustments to their techniques.
