Dog Training Programs We Offer In Fairfield County

If you recently welcomed a new member into your Fairfield County home, then congratulations! Having an adorable ball of energy can be both rewarding and challenging. Just remember to start training them early. If you wait too long, then your puppy may learn improper behavior. You want them to start learning from you as soon as possible!

    Puppy training skillsets we follow:

    • Obedience training
    • Name recognition
    • Introduction to leashes, collars and road safety

Our puppy training services in Fairfield County, help you start off on the right root with your new companion.

    Basic Dog Obedience Training

This program accomplishes several goals. First, teaching your dogs these commands will stimulate them both physically and mentally. That means that after every session, they’ll sleep like a log that night! Second, by stimulating your dog in this way, your puppy can become more prepared for advanced commands.

    Basic Commands:

    • Sit down
    • Come
    • Shake
    • Stay

While this training is designed for more mature dogs, don’t let that discourage you. We can offer puppy training services in Fairfield County that cater to the specific skill set of your dog.

    Advanced Dog Obedience Training

This class will teach your dog to ignore distractions and focus on its owner. That way, you don’t have to fight for its attention and it won’t get distracted. It also will expand on the basic training level and give your dog more respect for you.

    Advanced Commands:

    • Stop
    • Back Up
    • Give
    • Speak

And if your dog is already poorly behaved, then there is nothing to worry about. We can fix that too. Through proper behavioral therapy, we can help you at our training center that services the Fairfield County area.

There are many reason why a dog may be acting out. Common causes of bad behavior include lack of exercise, socialization, or correct discipline.

Some behavioral signs that can be changed:

    • Agression
    • Fearfulness
    • Guarding
    • Seperation Anxiety

When you take control of the situation in Fairfield County and call us, you are already on the right start. Your Wolfen1 trainer will work with you and your dog so that they know what behaviors are and are not accepted.

Therapy dogs are seemingly everywhere nowadays – Nursing homes, hospitals, and even some universities. And any breed, age, or type of dog has the potential to help the hundreds of people who need them. Temperament and personality, however, are very large factors.

Dogs that have behavior problems or are unable to sit still and calm are unlikely to be certified. A therapy dog must be friendly, gentle, and sociable. It also must be comfortable in new environments and meeting new people.

To become a therapy dog, your dog must:

    • Complete basic and advanced obedience training
    • Enjoy meeting new people
    • Follow basic obedience commands like sit, come or leave it
    • Remain calm and still during visits

It is also important to remember the distinction between therapy and service dogs. Whilst service dogs stay with one owner and assist them individually, therapy dogs are in constant contact with new people. As a result, therapy dogs must have a good level of social skills, health, and comfort with new places.

    Dog off leash training

    Off Leash Dog Training

If you’re an adventurous dog owner, then you probably love to do things like hiking, fishing, or running. In many of these cases, off leash training can be extremely beneficial. And luckily, we offer many of these training sessions in the Fairfield County area.

However, off leash training should only be considered once your dog has mastered more basic and advanced training. In order to successfully complete the course, your dog must already be familiar with responding to high-degree orders.

But if you are able to successfully complete our course, the rewards will be massive. Even if you’re in a difficult or distracting situation, you can count on having control over your pet. You’ll have peace of mind, a sense of confidence, and a strengthened relationship with your animal.

While everybody wants a perfectly behaved dog, not everybody has the time for it. Additionally, you may have some trainers who stray away from dogs with behavior issues. At Wolfen1, however, that is not the case!

At Wolfen1, we host a six-week training program at the Mine Hill Kennel in New Milford. At this program, we’ll extensively train your dog in whatever commands you want. Your dog will be personally attended to, fed, and properly socialized. We’ll do all the work for you; You won’t have to worry about a thing!

     Programs we follow:

    • Attention Getters
    • Sit Methods
    • Down Methods
    • Heel & Come
    • Climb
    • Place

Under our guidance, dogs will be put through intensive behavior modification as well as obedience training. They’ll learn good behavior and to look to their owner for guidance. At around week five, the owner will join the program and the dog will adjust from trainer to owner. Owners will also learn the program and make their own adjustments to their techniques.
