Dog Training Programs We Offer In Ansonia, CT
It is important to train a dog earlier instead of later on; so in order to avoid common mistakes of new puppy owners we recommend to introduce basic commands to your animal early on. From this you can witness if your dog has a natural, innate quality to follow a leader or not.
Puppy training skillsets we follow:
- Obedience training
- Name recognition
- Introduction to leashes, collars and road safety
In Ansonia, we want to start you and your new companion right; so our puppy training services are available as well.
Basic Dog Obedience Training
The program is based upon a positive reward method. From this method you are able to give your dog basic, introductory training skills. From this, you can help stimulate your dog both mentally and physically. After this training, advanced learning for your dog will come more easily.
- Sit down
This training is intended for mature and developed dogs, but do not let that discourage you if you have a puppy. We still do offer puppy training services for all of our Ansonia residents. We cater to your puppy’s needs first and foremost with this specific service.
Advanced Dog Obedience Training
Different forms of distractions for your dog can be: people, cars and animals. In order for them to have the skill set to ignore these, our advanced obedience can help make sure that your dog will only focus solely on you instead. Through this training your dog will gain more respect for you and will develop beyond what they learn in the basic training level.
- Back Up
Your Ansonia dog’s basic level of dog obedience training will be expanded upon. It will become more advanced as they learn more commands while learning to ignore distractions like: people, animals and cars. They will only focus on their owner from here on.
Bad behavior can become prevalent through neglect or resistance to training. Bad behavior can be easily learned, but for our Ansonia residents, our proper training programs can help stop this mindset.
If your dog does not have proper exercise, lack of social skills, fear or if they do not have the correct discipline; then a lot of these can be causation for your dog’s bad behavior training.
Some behavioral signs that can be changed:
- Seperation Anxiety
Our expert training is offered to all Ansonia residents. By seeking it out you will be able to take control of the situation once more. Your dog will learn: which actions are acceptable and which are not. All of this being able through our one-on-one training sessions with our trainer at Wolfen1.
Do you live at a: nursing home, hospital, school or retirement home? Then therapy dogs can be available to you for companionship. Temperament and personality are a big factor in certified therapy dogs; breed, age or size do not matter.
If dogs cannot sit still and remain calm or have behavior problems, then they are less likely to become therapy dogs. Qualities of good therapy dogs are as follows: friendly, gentle, comfortable around new people and always remaining calm in a multitude of environments.
To become a therapy dog, your dog must:
- Complete basic and advanced obedience training
- Enjoy meeting new people
- Follow basic obedience commands like sit, come or leave it
- Remain calm and still during visits
A common misconception is that therapy and service dogs are one in the same. They are not. Therapy dogs are not bound to or assist one individual always. Therapy dogs require proper social skills, good health, and be comfortable with being in constant contact with new people.
Off Leash Dog Training
If your dogs are more often in adventurous situations like hiking, running or spend time on large properties; off leash training can be more beneficial for these dog owners.
Once basic and advanced obedience training programs have been finished successfully then off leash training can be considered. It is important that your dog understands responding to commands at a high degree so they can be properly taught how to walk off leash.
Distractions are everywhere in Ansonia, so this will allow you to be in more control of your companion at these points because of these off leash training sessions. Any unforeseen situations where you may be separated from your dog will be easier to come by, as your dog will remain more calm and obedient from this program.
Are you a dog owner that does not have a lot of free time? We understand that training your new puppy or dog can be difficult under situations such as these. It is also important to know that some dog trainers will stray away from behavior problems; but our team at Wolfen1 will not do this.
In New Milford at the Mile Hill Kennel, our minimum 6 weeks training program is available for your dog. Here they will undergo extensive dog training by the trusted hands of the owners of Mile Hill Kennel, no matter if they need basic or advanced obedience training.
Programs we follow:
- Attention Getters
- Sit Methods
- Down Methods
- Heel & Come
Obedience training will also be given to dogs who are put through behavior modification training. Through this we will be able to reinforce good behavior and look to owners for guidance. The training program will be opened up to owners around week 5 so that they can be integrated into learning the methods so that the switch from trainer to owner is easier. We want to help establish the owner as the leader, so by learning the program they can adjust and adapt to our training style.
